Tight Hip Flexors and Scoliosis

Stretch Your Hip Flexors Especially If You Have Scoliosis

If you want to be able to control your scoliosis it is very important to release tight hip muscles.

The psoas muscle connects the femur to the spine. In people who have scoliosis the back bends to the side which will cause a shortening and tightening of the psoas on that same side.

If you straighten your spine with surgery and then try and stand up without lengthening the shortened psoas it will then pull on your spine potentially giving you pain and increasing wear and tear on any discs that aren’t fused.

Stretching your hip flexors, even if you aren’t having surgery, will help to mitigate the effects of this imbalance and take the pressure off the joints in your lower back.
