Living The Life You Want

September 15, 2021

When was the last time you really took time to evaluate your life?

Most people I talk to only take a look at their lives when they are forced to, most commonly by a health crisis or personal circumstances.

I like to do it more often than that.  Usually every year.

When I ran intrinsi the management team would actually review the mission and vision of the business once a quarter.  But my perception of what my clients wanted didn’t always match what I wanted, and I often compromised.

These little compromises added up, with the addition of  a new family I somehow lost track of the life I wanted to live, the goals I wanted to achieve and was swept up in the process.

The shift was insidious, it started with missed gym sessions, postponed dinners with friends and then missed family events and a general neglect of all things non business related – somehow time sped up and before I knew it 10 years had passed.

The life I had voluntarily and willing created somehow wasn’t what I wanted.

To remain true to yourself isn’t easy especially if you haven’t consciously created a vision of what you want.

It’s a constant work in progress but books like Vishen Lakhiani ‘s Buddha and the Badass are great tools to help craft your vision and start to build a purpose filled life.  In fact this process led me to selling my business, selling my house and moving to Nicaragua where I get to spend as much time with my kids as I want and I’m an active participant in their education.

I’ve developed a framework I call the “Core Four”

  • Movement
  • Mindset
  • Mojo
  • Mission

Everyday I try and do something that ticks each one of those boxes.  These little actions add up and as they are aligned with the path I’ve consciously created I’m happy in the present, knowing that where I’m meant to be.

During the lifestyle retreats in Nicaragua  we will take a deep dive into purpose and help you define what is in each of the “Core Four” buckets so you can be the driver of your life and not just a passenger.

What do you do now to avoid blinking and wondering where the last 10 years has gone?
